Focus and Scope

IIJ is an online peer reviewed journal published by Centre of Pesantren Studies and Community Development, Universitas Brawijaya. IIJ welcomes a wide range of original papers in English or Bahasa Indonesia that focus on Islam and its society.

IIJ is dedicated to the scholarly study of Islam and its societal dynamics. The journal gives special attention to works related with history, politics, economics, sociology, culture, law, literature, linguistics, philosophy, international relations, environmental studies, and and other issues that deals with Islam and its civilization. It welcomes interdisciplinary works on Islam aparticularly welcomes interdisciplinary works on Islam from all over the world.

Since 2021, IIJ has acquired accreditation status and ranked 5 in Sinta.

Peer Review Process

Islamic Insights Journal manuscripts are peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers of the journal’s Editorial Team of experts in fields specifically matching the journal topics. Articles are reviewed, double-blind, in full publishable form; no journal manuscripts are accepted based only upon submission of an abstract. Reviewers are required to provide the author with comments intended to improve the content, style, and other issues which should improve the quality of the article.

Publication Frequency

IIJ publishes two issues per year which are scheduled on March and October

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

PSP2M (Centre of Pesantren Studies and Community Development) is the research centre that committed to developing research on islamic studies with special attention to Pesantren as one of the major educational institutions in Indonesia. Journal History

IIJ started its online publication in 2019. It was initiated by researchers who are members of the Centre of Pesantren Studies and Community Development. The centre was previously established in 2017 as a research centre under the Research and Community Service Body of Universitas Brawijaya. The first director of this centre was Siti Kholifah, Ph.D which was also the first Chief Editor of the journal.

The current chief editor of the journal is Dr Mohammad Anas who started his tenure in 2019. He was also the director of the research centre who served for two 3 consecutive years until his resignation in January 2022. However, he still commits to devote his career as the chief editor of this journal.

After publishing four issues in 2019 and 2020, IIJ commenced to get accreditation status from the national body of accreditation (Sinta) in 2021. It officially acquired its accreditation status in December 2021 and was placed at Sinta Rank 5.Â
